The accounts at least give no cause for panic. The Grassroots Share from Norsk Tipping provided good income, with 51 active grassroots donors. And the balance at the end of the year suggests a decent starting point now that events, maintenance and exciting new initiatives are all on the agenda.

"All that is kept in good repair by living hands will, in time, acquire the quiet signature of wear and tear." - (The Man, n.d.)

On the maintenance side, there is no shortage of things to tackle. Besides the membership numbers, the ball court needs painting and some simple repairs, and a work party in collaboration with the parents' council (FAU) is being planned before the summer holidays.

The lighted trail still engages people in winter as well as summer, but the posts, fixtures and wiring all need maintenance/replacement, both for usability and safety. In addition to new posts and lights, there are proposals for a better path with crushed and gravel surfacing, and regular edge trimming so people can walk dry-shod or cycle the loop without tall grass triggering a search party. This also opens up the possibility of Backyard running, which is one of the proposals alongside the Strauman Half Marathon.

But enough from the pulpit and self-examination for now – on to the good news: On the activity side, there are several bright spots. The Easter rebus hunt was described as a wonderful and popular family event, and the club will build on that enthusiasm. No summer without the Summer Campaign!

And then there's the event that has had an active life in the corridors but has not yet been made public: "Village Champion". Both classic and less classic events are promised here. Crowbar throwing is mentioned. Mosquito football too. Neither is on the Olympic programme just yet, but the world needs trendsetters like Strauman!

The sports club is also looking at new offerings. Disc golf is on the rise these days, and fortunately wind is not in short supply here on the outer coast. The offering is under consideration, and work is underway on location, equipment and people with informal expertise in the sport. Funding has been applied for, and if this comes through, Strauman could gain yet another low-threshold activity.

The annual meeting also resulted in a new board, and the collaboration between the sports club and the FAU is highlighted as important. The ambition is simple and timeless: to get everyone active, regardless of age.

The board will meet again on Thursday 23 April at 18.00 at the school. At the same time, the sports club reminds everyone that it is still possible to sign up as a member, including those who didn't make it to the annual meeting earlier this year.
